Instructions
Harvest or Prepare Dandelion
If you have access to fresh dandelion leaves and roots, harvest a young tender plant. Rinse it thoroughly and chop it all into small pieces. If you don't have fresh dandelion, you can use 1 teaspoon of dried dandelion leaves and root instead.
Prepare Infusion
Place the fresh or dried dandelion in a heatproof cup or teapot. Pour the boiling water over the leaves.
Steep
Cover the cup or teapot and let the dandelion steep for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the dandelion's beneficial compounds to infuse into the water.
Strain and Add Lemon
Strain the dandelion infusion to remove the leaves and root. Add fresh lemon juice, adjusting the amount to your taste preference.
Sweeten and Chill
If desired, add honey or maple syrup for sweetness. Allow the lemonade to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold. You can add ice cubes for quicker cooling.
Garnish and Serve
When serving, garnish your dandelion lemonade with lemon slices and fresh dandelion flowers for a lovely touch.
Notes
When harvesting dandelions, ensure they are from areas free of pesticides and other chemicals. The entire dandelion plant is edible and beneficial, but the roots are particularly supportive of liver and gallbladder function. For a stronger medicinal effect, you can increase the amount of dandelion root used.
Dosage
Drink 1-2 cups daily, preferably before meals. Best consumed in the morning to support natural detoxification processes. Start with smaller amounts and gradually increase to assess your tolerance.
